Officially launched in 2018, the Little Free Herbary idea aspires to foster community and help neighbors connect through the simple act of growing and sharing healthy herbs for use in food recipes and medicinal concoctions.
Taking obvious inspiration from the Little Free Library movement, and acknowledging that this is a small but hopefully attainable step, we aim to help neighbors share and connect over something as simple as an herb garden.
Those of us who've grown herbs in our backyards know we've often got more than we need. Why not, we thought, move those herb gardens out from behind our houses to up to the street-front where they can be accessed by those neighbors and passersby who could use them.
